KRISTEN ORGERA ROLFING

"Rolfing is permanent...after you're Rolfed you're like a Jaguar. No matter how long

you drive a Jaguar, it's not going to turn into a Ford.”

- Dr. Ida Rolf

Rolfing® is....

The aim of Rolfing® is to organize each individual body into a better relationship with gravity. We use hands-on work with movement education to work with the fascial layer of the body, which is present throughout the body as a connective web. It is a cooperative practice and client presence and participation are essential. Rolfing® looks at the body as a whole, instead of focusing on treating it's parts.

The 10 Series

Basic Rolfing® work is organized into 10 sessions, the goal of which is to systematically balance and optimize both the structure (shape) and function (movement) of the entire body.  The sessions build on each other to provide support for the changes and to prepare the client for the next session. If you wish, we include movement sessions to deepen the education. Post-ten work is also effective for some clients.

Rolfing® isn't...

Rolfing® is not the typical passive therapy appointment, nor is it used for acute injuries. It is not massage, nor chiropractic adjustment. Instead, we  are partners in bringing you greater awareness, and educating your body about it's options going forward. Much like physical therapy, a lot of the work happens between sessions as your body adapts to the work.

Where Rolfing® comes from

Rolfing®, originally called Structural Integration by it's creator, Dr. Ida P. Rolf, was developed from her combined study of systems such as Osteopathy, chiropractic medicine, Yoga, the Alexander Technique, and Homeopathic medicine. She used the knowledge she gained to create her own method of working with the body.
